Digital Postal Scale

All the information about scales at one place

The first thing you should be looking for when choosing a digital scale is their size. You can choose from little scales whit a small weighing tray to large scales whit a big weighing tray. It all depends on the item you are measuring. Its best to choose a large tray that can carry all of you samples. Keep in mind that you can use an expansion tray or weighing container on any digital scale. If you are planning to put an expansion tray on your new digital scale make sure that it has a Tare option. This will allow you to put the weighing tray and zero it so you can only see the weight within it. The next very important thing is the scale capacity (the maximum weight a scale can measure at one time). This is entirely up to you and how much do you need to weigh at one time. For example a digital postal scale that has a capacity of 1kg would be suitable for weighing items that weigh less than 1kg. Be sure to take a look at the scale accuracy(this is the smallest amount of weigh the scale displays). If you for instance need to make masurements from 5g, 10g, 15g etc. we recommend a scale whit 5g accuracy/precision but if you need to measure 0.8g than a digital postal scale whit 0.1 accuracy will do the work. (The capacity and accuracy are written like this 100 x 0.1 that means the scales capacity is 100g and the accuracy is 0.1g). All the digital postal scales and most types of scales come pre-calibrated and are ready for use. If not you must calibrate it following the users manual/instructions. However after a time period when the pre-calibrated scale was exposed to lot of moving the readings may change slightly. If we place a corresponding calibration mass on a 0.1g accuracy scale and the readings are 0.3 off or more we reccomend recalibration. When the calibration is done properly the scale will show the exact weight that is placed on the tray. If you are planning to use your scale for buisness and sell based on the read out make sure that your scale is legal for trade and has a calibration certificate. That certificate must by published from a local weighmaster and include information like where and when was the calibration performed and what weights were used. If you choose a scale that is run from batterys it would be smart thinking to pick one that has a auto power-off-function. That feature will prolong battery life. The scale will turn its self off usually two minutes after it does not register any input or change in weight. For other scale options or components read the more_info page(in construction).
